Mountain Zebra National Park and The Wild Coast Transkei - April 2016.

We went on another tour with Francois Rossouw's Radio Sonder Grense to the Trasnkei. We had not been to the Transkei for many years and did not want to travel there alone. There were lots of vehicles and people on the tour but it worked out fine. Before the tour we decided to go to Mountain Zebra National Park via the Gariep Dam. After the Transkei we went to the ATKV Natalia resort to see what it was like. We stayed two nights and obtained a flat on the fourth floor overlooking the sea and it was lovely.

Our own pillows and sleeping bags came along although we were not going to camp at all. We used all this equipment until the start of the Transkei tour when we just used our pillows. The weather was cold to start but soon warmed up nicely and we had hardly a cloudy day. In fact the problem was too bright light from a photographic point of view.

We were lucky to see two of the four lions in the Mountain Zebra National Park. Both were males and we were told that the females were nearby but we had to get a move on to reach our next destination so did not wait to try and find them. The Eland were the most skittish animals followed by the Oryx.

I used more than one GPS and decided Waze was worth trying. This was a mistake - Waze is for city use but we did find a very interesting route. The speaker cable on one of our 276C units stopped working and I have since managed to get a replacement from Garmin. http://www.garminonline.co.za/ is the web address and it was a really pleasant experience buying from them. The part was delivered by courier the next working day.

The vehicle clocked over 200 000 mies which is about 320 000 kilometers at the end of this trip.

As usual we took a lot of snaps. We do this to remember where we were. Talking of memory - I took a picture of our door key once so I could remember which door to knock on when I had finished socialising.

As time goes on I am less inclined to write a blurb about the pictures. People who were with us will perhaps recognise some of the places. People who were not with us will probably not care.

The pictures are posted in the order they were taken. There are over a thousand of them - some are almost exact copies but I would rather have some duplicates than leave some out as this page is primarily for our pleasure and to remember the trip. Because of the high number of individual links I would have to make in order to display the pictures individually on the page I have decided to just give the address where the pictures are stored on the web. From there you can view them as thumbnails or larger pictures. And of course to my horror the colours are slightly different to how they display on my machine. The loss in quality because of the size reduction is significant and if anyone wants a better quality picture they must e-mail me. However if you are viewing the pictures on a small screen or phone you might not notice the quality drop.

This is the second part ... these pictures might appear in the first part later. This has happened to me before but I loaded the pictures again that did not appear on my computer in part one. The last picture in this series is a bridge.
